A first-generation American, Erik was raised with a deep appreciation for hard work, opportunity, and service. His parents immigrated to the United States from the Mexican states of Jalisco and Sonora in the 1960s, instilling in him the values that continue to guide his leadership today.
Erik’s family story also reflects a broader American journey—his great-grandfather emigrated from Germany in search of opportunity, reinforcing a legacy rooted in perseverance and the pursuit of the American Dream.
With more than two decades of experience as a real estate broker and business owner, Erik has built a career focused on helping individuals and families achieve stability and success. His professional background and fluency in Spanish have given him firsthand insight into the challenges facing working families, small businesses, and homeowners—especially when it comes to affordability, economic opportunity, and navigating complex systems.
As a member of the Pico Rivera City Council and past Mayor, Erik has worked to bring significant investment into the community, supporting infrastructure improvements, championing public safety initiatives, and economic development projects. His leadership has contributed to securing millions in grant funding to improve streets, lighting, water systems, and neighborhood safety, while also expanding parks, recreation, and community resources.
Erik is also actively engaged in international relationship-building that benefits local communities. In 2023 while Mayor, he welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Consulate to Pico Rivera, strengthening cultural and economic ties. He has participated in international delegations to China focused on economic partnerships and trade opportunities and engaged in discussions supporting cross-border collaboration. Additionally, Erik led a delegation to Chapala, Jalisco, helping lay the groundwork for a sister city relationship that was established the following year—promoting cultural exchange and future economic cooperation.
